LAS VEGAS — New season, new first for the Nevada football program.
The Wolf Pack was picked as the Mountain West’s West Division champion in the conference’s annual preseason media poll Wednesday, getting 19 of 25 first-place votes to finish with 141 points in the balloting. San Jose State, with 121 points, was second.
Since it joined the conference for the 2012 season, Nevada had never before been tabbed as the West Division favorite.
The preseason poll results kicked off the Mountain West’s annual two-day media summit. This year’s event, held at the Cosmopolitan on the Las Vegas Strip, marks a return for the MW’s biggest gathering of the year after last year’s event was canceled due to the pandemic.
