Men’s golf: Consistent play has Nevada in contention

FRESNO, Calif. – The Nevada men’s golf team is in fourth place after the first two rounds of the Nick Watney Invitational, hosted by Fresno State.

The final round will be played this afternoon. Nevada trails tournament leaders BYU and Saint Mary’s by two strokes as the Cougars and Gaels sit at 4 over par and the Pack is at 6 over. Third-place Fresno State is one shot ahead of Nevada. None of the 15 teams in the field finished the first two rounds under par.

Nevada posted back-to-back team rounds of 3-over 287 on Monday, which was one of the best team scores in the field.
