LAS VEGAS -- Wyoming is suddenly one of the hottest teams in the Mountain West, while Nevada went cold at the wrong time.
Wyoming downed Nevada, 74-71 in a Mountain West Conference men's basketball tournament quarterfinal game on Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Wyoming, the No. 11 seed, won just two games in conference play, and has won two this week, beating Colorado State on Wednesday, then Nevada on Thursday.
No No. 11 seed had ever won a game in the MWC tournament before Wednesday.
