The turning of the calendar from 2015 to 2016 not only marked a new year, it also marked the beginning of the $11.5 million renovation of Mackay Stadium, a project described as a “game-changer” by Nevada.
The renovation actually began Dec. 28 with the fencing off of West Stadium Road between the stadium and West Stadium Parking Complex and it is expected to be completed by the second week of August.
Wolf Pack athletic director Doug Knuth, speaking from Glendale, the site of the College Football Playoff championship game, said he has no concerns the project will not be done for the 2016 season opener on Sept.
