The newly renovated Mackay Stadium will celebrate its 50th anniversary this season. We will count down the 50 most memorable games in the stadium's history with one game per day until the Wolf Pack's 2016 season opener Sept. 2 against Cal Poly. Here is today's entry.
Key stat: 5,333 - Senior RB Frank Hawkins rushed for 265 yards to set the Division I-AA career rushing record (5,333). Chris Ault stopped the game with a few minutes left to present Hawkins to an adoring crowd.
In short: Only one Wolf Pack player has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, that being Hawkins, who on this day capped his Nevada career in historic fashion.
