Nevada handed out its top academic awards of 2016 on Monday night at the Grand Sierra Resort and Austin Corbett and Sita Kusserow were the big winners.
Kusserow, a swimmer, was named the Wolf Pack's female scholar-athlete of the year. Kusserow, from Buehl, Germany, is a butterfly and freestyle specialist who has competed in the NCAA Championships. She is a multiple-time College Swimming Coaches Association of America scholar All-America honoree.
Corbett, a football player, was named the department's male scholar-athlete of the year. The Reed high graduate, who has started 37 of the 38 games in his Wolf Pack career at left tackle, is majoring in public health and hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon after graduation.
