When Nevada hosts New Mexico on Saturday afternoon at Lawlor Events Center, the Lobos might want to guard Wolf Pack sharp-shooter Kendall Stephens to open the game. He tends to get going early.
Stephens has scored Nevada’s first bucket in each of its last five games, a remarkable stat but not a coincidental one. Stephens’ game-opening baskets – each has been a 3-pointer – is a result of trying to get the Wolf Pack guard going from the start of the game, a plan hatched in part by teammate Caleb Martin.
