'It's real football': Nevada practices in pads for first time

It wasn’t quite all-out football, but that day is getting closer.

The Wolf Pack football team donned pads for the first time Monday, following an NCAA-mandated period of practices with helmets and cleats only.

But the real fun begins Tuesday. That’s when head coach Jay Norvell plans to ramp up the speed and the level of contact at Wolf Pack Park.

“(Monday) we were in half-pads; (Tuesday) we’ll be full pads,” Norvell said. “It’ll be a real competitive day; we’ll do one-on-one tackling, we had a ‘Nevada’ drill on Saturday and we’ll do another one on Wednesday.
