L.J. Jackson had mentally packed his bags and was ready to move to Boise, Idaho.
A track star at Hug High, Jackson had verbally committed to become a decathlete at Boise State. Jackson always saw himself as a football player first but he excelled in track and field and that's where the recruiters flocked.
Jackson had previously taken an unofficial trip to the Boise campus and was scheduled for an official visit after he played in the 2012 Sertoma Classic, the now-defunct all-star game for local high school football stars. But before he got to Boise, he was summoned into the office of then Wolf Pack football coach Chris Ault.
