If you ever watched Cameron Oliver play basketball for the Wolf Pack the last two seasons, it’d be easy to assume he was always destined for a pro career, his athleticism unmatched, his natural gifts awe-inspiring.
But you might not know about him growing up in some of the roughest neighborhoods of Oakland and Sacramento. You might not know about the ACL he shredded in his left knee when he was 16, which threw his career in jeopardy. And you certainly don’t know about the year he spent working at a Dollar Tree and call center as an 18-year-old not knowing if he’d ever get the chance to play college basketball let alone have a shot in the NBA.
