In a three-day span, the list of the nation’s undefeated Division I college basketball teams fell from nine to five. The season began with 353 teams playing at the sport’s top level.
One of the five remaining unbeaten is seventh-ranked Nevada, which survived two recent dogfights at home — close wins over South Dakota State and Akron — to move to 12-0 on the season. The Wolf Pack finishes the non-conference portion of its schedule Saturday at Utah, Nevada’s third game this season against a Pac-12 opponent.
