The Nevada-UNLV game always carries a lot of significance – you might have heard the winner gets a 545-pound cannon – but there’s an added edge this year: a Rebels’ bowl berth rests on the outcome.
UNLV enters the game with a 5-6 record (4-3 in the MW) and in need of a victory in the regular-season finale to hit the six wins required to play in a bowl. Nevada, which is 2-9 (2-5 in the MW) and was eliminated from postseason contention last month, is treating Saturday’s contest as its bowl game.
