Ex-Wolf Pack coach Chris Ault appointed to Nevada Athletic Commission

Governor Brian Sandoval appointed former Wolf Pack football coach Chris Ault to the Nevada Athletic Commission on Friday.

Established in 1941, the commission regulates all contests or exhibitions of unarmed combat, including the licensure and supervision of promoters, boxers, mixed martial artists, kick boxers, ring officials, managers, ring announcers and matchmakers.

Ault replaces Skip Avansino, who retired earlier this year. The commission is made up of five part-time members, each appointed by the governor for a three-year term.

“Coach Ault is a sports legend across the State of Nevada," Sandoval said in a news release. "He is a fierce competitor who understands rivalry and drive to win and a statesman who is respected by his peers and mentored many students during his storied career.
