Ex-Pack star Byler suspended for amphetamines use

Ex-Wolf Pack star and current Diamondbacks prospect Austin Byler, who led Nevada to the school’s first Mountain West title as well as 41 wins last season, has been suspended 50 games for amphetamines.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball said Byler received the suspension without pay after testing positive for an amphetamine, which is considered a stimulant and is a violation for the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. He will being his ban at the start of the 2016 season.

The 22-year-old Byler was a .320 career hitter at Nevada who ranks in the top 10 in program history in homers (39), walks (115), triples (11), doubles (50), runs (180) and hits (242).
