Jeff Horton still comes back to Northern Nevada once a year.
Usually for a vacation at Lake Tahoe. Sometimes he comes back to coach the opposing football team at Mackay Stadium.
The former Nevada coach did that Saturday night with San Diego State and saw the Aztecs roll up 620 yards in total offense, 474 yards rushing, a program record.
San Diego State overcame a bit of a slow start to take a 46-16 win over Nevada.
Horton was the head coach at Nevada for one season, 1993 (7-4), before leaving for UNLV. He has had several coaching jobs since then, in college and the NFL, and is now the offensive coordinator for the Aztecs.
