Cross country: Wolf Pack's Tierney Wolfgram first Nevada woman to qualify for NCAA finals

Nevada sophomore Tierney Wolfgram has one more race left.

Wolfgram became the first Nevada women’s cross country athlete to qualify for the NCAA national meet with her second-place finish at the Mountain Region finals on Friday. She ran the 6K course at Timpanogos Golf Club in Provo, Utah, in 20 minutes, 20.4 seconds.

Wolfgram finished behind only Taryn O’Neill of Northern Arizona (20:17.9). She led the Pack to a 13th-place team finish (363 points); Mountain West powerhouse New Mexico won the event with 62 points.

“Tierney Wolfgram will become Nevada’s first woman to run at a NCAA National Cross Country Championship with a brilliant effort,” Nevada head coach Kirk Elias said in a news release.
