When Nevada athletic director Doug Knuth went out to hire the school’s next football coach, one of his early calls was to Wolf Pack legend Chris Ault.
Clearly, Knuth wasn’t checking to see if Ault was interested as a fourth tenure as Nevada’s coach. But he did want to see if Ault would be interested in helping him identify the Wolf Pack’s next coach.
After playing no role the last time the Wolf Pack hired a football coach, Ault was eager to be involved in the process that eventually led to Friday’s hiring of Jay Norvell. Ault helped identify him as a candidate.
