NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin opened his remarks at Saturday’s press conference by wishing his Irish friends a happy St. Patrick’s Day before quickly turning his thoughts elsewhere.
“I hope my guys said their name right,” Cronin said of Nevada. “I tried to tell them it's Nevada.”
Cronin used the proper pronunciation of Nev-AD-a, a word which has often been mispronounced in Nashville this week. Texas coach Shaka Smart, whose team played the Wolf Pack in the first round, went with the incorrect pronunciation – Nev-AH-da – all week, as has much of the national media.
