The unofficial “championship season” begins this week for Wolf Pack athletics teams, and women’s cross country is the first out of the gate.
Nevada’s runners will compete at the Mountain West championships on Friday in San Diego. The women’s cross country team is the first of Nevada’s fall sports teams to reach its postseason or championship events.
The Mountain West is annually one of the deepest conferences in the nation. Three teams enter the MW championships nationally ranked, including Boise State at No. 2 and New Mexico at No. 3. Utah State is No. 27 in the latest national poll, and Air Force was among the teams receiving votes.
