Cal Poly’s starting pitchers ultimately proved to be the Nevada’s softball team’s Kryptonite.
The Wolf Pack entered Thursday’s play at the National Invitational Softball Championships needing to beat Cal Poly twice to win the Stockton Regional of the postseason inaugural event.
Instead, Cal Poly did to Nevada on Thursday exactly what it did to the Wolf Pack on Wednesday, shutting down the Pack’s bats to post its second shutout over Nevada in as many days. Cal Poly topped the Wolf Pack, 3-0, and allowed just one hit in the championship game of the Stockton Regional, ending Nevada’s season at 30-25.
