Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak honored former Nevada standout quarterback Colin Kaepernick on social media Thursday.
In a Twitter post in honor of Black History Month, Sisolak touted Kaepernick's athletic accomplishments at Nevada and in the NFL while also noting that "his efforts as a civil rights leader earned him international recognition & have inspired many Nevadans.”
Kaepernick played at Nevada from 2007 to 2010. In 51 career games, he passed for 10,098 yards and 82 touchdowns and rushed for 59 TDs. He became the first played in major-college history to pass for more than 10,000 yards and rush for more than 4,000.
