A beef with his head coach has left Todd Clever, a Wolf Pack alum and arguably the best rugby player in American history, off Team USA's World Cup roster.
Clever had been Team USA's captain until July when he stripped off the captaincy and kicked off the team during the Pacific Nationals Cup. Coach Mike Tolkin said at the time Clever's dismissal from the Pacific Nationals Cup roster was for "multiple squad violations." It was later reported he had missed two mandatory meetings. The dismissal did not sit well with Clever, who had been the team's captain since the 2007 World Cup.
