Baseball: Nevada clinches first series win of season

The Nevada baseball team used strong pitching, defense and timely hits in a 5-1 win over St. John’s on Saturday at Peccole Park.

The Wolf Pack (7-11) clinched its first series win of the season, while limiting the Red Storm (7-9-1) to one run for the second straight game.

Junior right-hander Trevor Charpie picked up his first win in a Pack uniform, scattering five hits, no walks and one run in five innings.

Nevada scored all of its runs with a five-run fourth inning, getting two bases-loaded hits.

Miles Mastrobuoni, Bryce Greager and TJ Friedl led the Wolf Pack with two hits apiece.
