In a matchup of strength versus strength Friday night at Mackay Stadium, Air Force’s running game turned out to be slightly better.
Very slightly.
The Falcons stopped Nevada in the third overtime to escape Mackay Stadium with a 41-39 win, handing the Pack its third two-point conference loss.
As a result, Nevada’s nine-game home winning streak is over and the Wolf Pack is officially down to a two-game season.
The Falcons, who ran the ball on their first 28 offensive plays, improved to 8-3 overall (5-2 in Mountain West games) and keep alive their hopes for a Mountain Division title.
