Against Portland State, Wolf Pack looks to erase Idaho State memories

The good news: The Nevada football team gets to open the 2018 season at home against an opponent from the Football Championship Subdivision.

The bad news: That’s not necessarily good news.

Nevada begins its 2018 campaign against Portland State of the Big Sky on Friday (6 p.m.) at Mackay Stadium, it’s seventh FCS opponent over the last seven seasons. But, rather than the expected blowouts (or steady wins, at the least), the Wolf Pack has endured some unseemly struggles of late against its lower-tier competition.
