New Wolf Pack defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel had plenty of job options in the spring of 2016.
The 54-year-old coach was a free agent after a four-year run at Arizona and as one of the more respected defensive coaches in the nation, finding a job wasn’t going to be an issue. But after 31 consecutive seasons of coaching, Casteel called an audible: He decided to take a year off.
Casteel spent the 2016 season watching his son, Jack, play linebacker for Northern Arizona. Casteel traveled to watch Jack play in cities like Missoula, Mt., and Grand Forks, N.
