Politz tossed a complete-game six-hitter as third-seeded Yale surprised second-seeded Nebraska, 5-1, in the NCAA Tournament Corvallis Regional on Friday.
After Jake Meyers scored a two-out run off Politz in the first inning, Politz blanked the Huskers the rest of the way.
The Big Ten regular-season champions must now fight for their tournament lives. Nebraska (35-21-1) will be facing elimination when it meets either Oregon State or Holy Cross at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
