Former Nebraska national champion Chad Wright posted a top-10 finish in the discus at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Wright was the first Husker male athlete to throw the discus at the Olympics.
Competing for his native country of Jamaica, Wright recorded a throw of 62.93 meters in the preliminaries to earn one of 12 spots in the finals. In the finals, Wright placed ninth with a throw of 62.56 meters. Wright was the first Husker male thrower to earn a top-10 finish at the Olympics since Sam Francis placed fourth in the shot put at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
