Billy Smith's win against Nebraska's Collin Jensen at heavyweight helped No. 11 Rutgers to a 17-16 against the No. 4 Husker wrestling team on Saturday in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Smith, ranked sixth nationally, earned an 8-2 win against Jensen to close the dual. His win tied the match at 16-16. Rutgers won on total match points criteria (51-48) to earn the tiebreaking point.
The loss snapped a streak of 17 straight wins for the Huskers, dating to last season. Rutgers lost to No. 2 Iowa 29-6 a night earlier.
Tim Lambert (125 pounds) and Eric Montoya (133) each won to give the Huskers an early edge, and Jake Sueflohn, ranked seventh at 149, extended the NU lead to 10-4 with a 12-3 major-decision win against Tyson Dippery.
