Freshman Jessica Shepard scored 42 points to lead the Nebraska women’s basketball team to a 96-66 win against Winona State on Sunday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Her total was the most points for a Husker in an exhibition game in at least 14 years. She was 16-of-19 from the field and made all 10 free throws.
Rachel Theriot added 23 points for the Huskers.
Shepard had a put-back to put NU up 13-2, then she got a layup on a fast break for a 15-2 lead.
Nebraska raced to a 28-9 lead after the first quarter, but then wasn’t great on defense after that, with the Warriors outscoring NU 28-25 in the second quarter.
