Freshman Jessica Shepard scored 29 points to lead the Nebraska women’s basketball team to a 92-54 win against Nebraska-Kearney in the Huskers’ first exhibition game of the season on Sunday.
Shepard made 11 of 19 field-goal attempts and was 7-of-11 on free throws. She also had 12 rebounds.
Senior guard Rachel Theriot added 24 points.
The Huskers starters were guards Maddie Simon, Kyndal Clark and Theriot, and forwards Rachel Blackburn and Shepard.
In the first half, Shepard had 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, with each of her shots coming around the basket.
