Women's basketball: Northwestern overwhelms Nebraska

Northwestern took control with a 17-0 run in the opening five minutes of the game and got an easy 85-62 win against Nebraska on Sunday in Evanston, Illinois.

Junior guards Nia Coffey and Christen Inman led the 14th-ranked Wildcats with 25 points each. Inman made five of the Wildcats’ 12 three-pointers.

Northwestern improved to 1-1 in the Big Ten Conference, while Nebraska dropped to 0-2 in the league and will face another tough game at No. 6 Maryland on Thursday.

Natalie Romeo led the Huskers (9-4) with 17 points, including making 5-of-9 three-pointers. Rachel Theriot added 13 points, and Jessica Shepard scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds.
