Women's basketball: Huskers edged by Iowa to open Big Ten play

Junior guard Ally Disterhoft scored 17 points and Lincoln Southeast grad Alexa Kastanek added 13 points to help lead the Iowa women’s basketball team to a 74-68 win against Nebraska on Thursday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Nebraska got a 14-point halftime deficit down to three with a three-pointer by Natalie Romeo that cut the Hawkeyes’ lead to 59-56 with 5:45 to play in the fourth quarter, but Nebraska could never reclaim the lead.

The finish got interesting when Nebraska got a steal and Romeo hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to cut the Iowa lead to 71-68.
