Michigan women’s basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico was nervous about playing Nebraska on Sunday, even though the Wolverines are near the top of the Big Ten Conference standings, and the Huskers are not.
You can understand why, though. Michigan had lost five straight games against Nebraska. Barnes Arico had never beaten the Huskers in her four seasons.
She also had the memory of last season, when Nebraska’s Jessica Shepard scored 35 points and had 20 rebounds when the Huskers beat Michigan by 12 points.
But Sunday, the Wolverines had their normal good offense going while also making sure Shepard didn’t score enough to beat them and won 84-51 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
