Two of Nebraska basketball's highest-profile players had transferred out of the program. They also happened to be Watson's roommates. Many outside the program thought the sophomore guard would follow Ed Morrow and Michael Jacobson out of Lincoln.
There was concern among the fan base, and the Nebraska coaching staff, that Watson and his enormous potential would fully blossom somewhere else.
"A lot of people were asking me if I was transferring, but it really wasn't bothering me because I knew what I was going to do," Watson said after a recent offseason workout. "I just talked to my family, but it didn't really bother me because I knew I was going to stay here.
