Volleyball: Foecke brought instant offense, but also passion to Huskers

You’ve probably seen in a basketball game when a player who scores points a finger at the player who had the assist on the play, as a show of thanks?

On the Nebraska volleyball team, freshman outside hitter Mikaela Foecke is one of the players who do the same thing. Many times after Foecke gets a kill, she’ll point a finger at Husker setter Kelly Hunter in a very public thank you for helping make the play, just before the players regroup in the middle of the court.

Players such as Hunter, and defensive specialists Justine Wong-Orantes, Kenzie Maloney and Annika Albrecht, don’t get as much recognition as they deserve, Foecke said.
