When Nebraska running backs coach Ryan Held was asked this week if he had some backs who were better breakaway threats than others, a name he mentioned surprised some folks.
He first noted program newcomers Greg Bell and Maurice Washington, although those weren’t surprises.
Held then tossed into the conversation Devine Ozigbo, a 6-foot, 235-pound senior who led the team with 493 rushing yards last season, but didn’t have a carry longer than 28 yards.
“I’ll tell ya, Devine has had a really good camp,” said Held, noting Ozigbo’s diligence in the team’s offseason conditioning program as well as the player’s improved diet.
