Tucson, Ariz. - Michaela Vavrova fired a career-best 70 (-2) in the second round to close the first 36 holes in a tie for 20th to lead the Nebraska women's golf team at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational on Monday.
Vavrova, a freshman from Bojnice, Slovakia, charged up the individual leaderboard with one of the 10 rounds better than par among the 80 golfers over Monday's second round.
Vavrova opened the day with a 76 (+4) on the 6,627-yard, par-72 layout of the Sewailo Golf Club. Tied for 47th after the first round, Vavrova's 70 allowed her to close the day at 146 (+2) in a tie for 20th.
