For the first time in 16 years, the United States women’s volleyball team will have a chance to clinch a spot in the Olympic Games on home soil Saturday.
The USA team improved to 2-0 in the four-team NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament on Friday with a 25-14, 24-26, 25-12, 25-14 victory against Puerto Rico at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
In the past three Olympic cycles, the USA clinched a berth overseas prior to the region's Olympic qualifier.
The top-ranked Americans will play No. 7 Dominican Republic at 8 p.m. Saturday in a matchup of the two remaining unbeaten teams.
