The throws are getting longer and longer and Toni Tupper is getting happier and happier.
The former Lincoln Journal Star Prep Girls Athlete of the Year from Lincoln Northeast has found a home in the shot put ring at Nebraska.
Just last weekend, the sophomore who won three state high school titles, popped out her best-ever throw with a 51-foot, 8¼-inch mark to win the Adidas Classic title at the Devaney Sports Center. Her winning throw put her 10th on the all-time NU shot put list.
This week, the Academic All-Big Ten and fifth-place finisher in the Big Ten outdoor meet will compete against some of the best in the country from Kansas, Kansas State, Arizona State, Auburn, Kentucky, Iowa State, Maryland, Stanford and Texas in the annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Devaney Sports Center.
