Nebraska athletics used strong winter performances from the wrestling and track teams to move up more than 60 spots in the latest Learfield Director’s Cup standings, released last Thursday.
NU wrestlers finished eighth at the NCAA Championships, as did the men’s indoor track and field team. The women’s indoor track and field team finished 14th at the NCAA meet, adding 201.75 points to Nebraska’s total.
The Huskers improved from 104th in the fall to 41st after the winter standings. They’re 10th overall in the Big Ten, just behind Maryland (39th overall) and Iowa (35th). Both the Terrapins and Hawkeyes racked up points in the men’s and women’s basketball NCAA Tournaments.
