Three USC Home Runs Sink Cornhuskers, 7-1

You just had a sense early on that this was not going to be the Cornhuskers day at Great Park in Irvine, California. Freshman Grant Govel sat the first three Big Red hitters down before you could blink, and then for the third game in a row, the Trojans scored a run in their half of the opening inning.

In the second inning, USC hitters continued to put the bat on pitches thrown by Jackson Brockett and put up another run with two out when Maddox Riske drove a double into the gap to score Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek, who had previously reached on a fielder’s choice

Meanwhile, Nebraska squandered back-to-back singles by Dylan Carey and Robby Bolin in their half of the second when the next batters up could not drive them in.
