Thorir Thorbjarnarson, a 6-foot-6, 206-pound guard from Reykjavik, Iceland, begins his junior season on the Nebraska men’s basketball team, and after a whirlwind of offseason changes within the program, is the Huskers’ only returning player who logged minutes last season. Thorbjarnarson said he never considered transferring, saying, “I always had that in my mind that I was going to come back and keep playing here.” He played in 25 games last season, averaging two points and 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists. Thorbjarnarson returned to Lincoln earlier this month after averaging 10 points per game for Iceland’s senior national team in the Games of the Small States of Europe, and visited with Brian Rosenthal of Huskers.
