Nothing like a world champion boxer to spice up a benefit basketball game.
Terence "Bud" Crawford of Omaha, the WBO junior welterweight champion, will participate in former Nebraska football standout Eric Warfield's fifth annual charity game, set for 7 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Southeast High School.
The event, which pits former Husker players against members of the Lincoln Police Department, benefits Lighthouse, a community-based after school program.
Crawford recently improved to 28-0 (20 knockouts) with a fifth-round TKO of Hank Lundy before a sellout crowd of 5,092 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The 28-year-old Crawford, Omaha's first world champion, was named the Boxing Writers Association of America's fighter of the year for 2014.
