Nebraska offensive line coach Greg Austin, in assessing linemen, looks for players who can "function in the fog" -- that is, push through fatigue, pain or whatever else presents itself in a game.
The Huskers' offensive line has been in a fog in recent years, it seems, with only one all-conference selection — Spencer Long in 2012 — during the past seven years.
Veterans often learn how to handle the fog, and for now, Austin is sticking with his veteran starters, saying Wednesday it's too early to tell if any backups are ready to overtake anyone.
He has a point.
