Looking at the College Football Playoff rankings from last week, note that four of the top five teams feature quarterbacks who can skewer defenses with either their passing or running ability.
Although I've always preferred dual-threat quarterbacks, it's obvious that pocket-passer types along the lines of Washington sophomore Jake Browning can work wonders as well.
Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf says he can accommodate both types of quarterbacks in his system. At the moment, in fact, Langsdorf has both types. But that will change next season, when the Husker offense will look a lot more like it did Saturday, when backup Ryker Fyfe, much more of a passer than a runner, led a 28-7 victory against Maryland.
