During a gorgeous, almost windless fall day in Ann Arbor, Michigan, all kinds of hell broke loose.
Michigan linebacker Devin Bush led the assault as Wolverine defenders swarmed Nebraska's backfield on seemingly every play. An excellent defense was revved to the max, and the Huskers were overmatched to a startling degree.
"Sometimes young quarterbacks, as I've heard, can come to the sideline and they're either pissing and moaning or making excuses," said Nebraska quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco, who watched from the press box as his prized freshman QB, Adrian Martinez, absorbed hit after hit Sept. 22 before 111,037 spectators at Michigan Stadium.
