Steven M. Sipple: Coaches culpable in Armstrong's struggles

Danny Langsdorf didn't mince words.

Yes, he said, Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong tries to do too much at times.

He throws into double coverage. He takes unnecessary risks.

His FBS-leading 16 interceptions speak volumes.

"You've got a guy (in Armstrong) who competes and wants to win," said Langsdorf, the Husker offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. "Sometimes, he maybe forces it a little bit instead of taking what they're giving (on defense)."

If you defend Armstrong — as I've done frequently the past two seasons — you applaud his aggressiveness and point to the dozens of big plays he's created.
