Nebrask's Brooke Smith serves during a practice for the NCAA championship in December 2016. Smith played at Kansas State in 2017 but has returned to the Huskers.
JOURNAL STAR FILE PHOTOThe Nebraska volleyball team got the news it was hoping for on Friday afternoon when it learned that backup setter Brooke Smith will be able to play this season, coach John Cook told the Journal Star late Friday.
The NCAA has given Smith eligibility for this season, reversing an earlier ruling. She would be eligible for the Huskers’ next match, on Sunday against Iowa State, although she may not play then because she hasn’t been practicing with the Huskers’ starters in recent weeks.
