Nebraska honored legendary assistant coach Milt Tenopir twice during Saturday’s game against Illinois, and Husker fans showed their appreciation for one of the architects of the “The Pipeline” with a standing ovation.
Tenopir, who coached the Nebraska offensive line for 29 years, died Monday at the age of 76 after a long battle with leukemia.
Later, during a break in the action in the first quarter, there was a video tribute. It began by recognizing Tenopir as the greatest O-line coach in college football history, and that sounds about right. As the video came to a close, Husker fans gave Tenopir a standing ovation.
